This article will take you through the process of transferring a non .uk domain name (for example .com, .net, .store, .london etc) from another provider to RS Host. Transferring a non .uk domain has some additional steps that need to be followed and there are some additional rules in place (from ICANN) that needs to be followed before we can facilitate a domain transfer.

In order to transfer your domain you will first need to unlock your domain with your current provider and obtain an EPP code.

Please Note: a non .uk domain transfer can fail. You must ensure that the domain has not been registered for less than 60 days or previously transferred in the last 60 days. Additionally the domain's registrant contact first name, surname, company name or email address must not have been changed in the last 60 days. These are the rules set out by ICANN. Domain Name Transfers - ICANN

To initiate a non .uk domain name transfer you must login to the RS Host Client Portal over at https://rshost.uk/login

Once logged in hover over My Domains on the left hand side and choose Transfer a Domain to us

Enter your domain and then click on transfer.

You will then be prompted to enter your EPP / Authorization Code. You must get this code from your current provider and enter it on this page before you can continue. Once the EPP / Authorization Code has been entered click on confirm.

Continue through the purchase process from your shopping cart. When a non .uk domain is transferred to us it will be renewed for an additional year. This additional year is added onto the current expiry date of the domain so you will not lose any time you have already paid for.

Once you have completed the checkout process and paid for the domain transfer the following will happen:

  • You will be sent an authorisation email to the Administrative Contact email address that is set on your domain. The email will have a subject similar to "Domain Transfer Request for DOMAIN.COM" and will be sent from the email address postmaster@name-services.com
  • This email will contain a link for you to authorise the transfer. Please either click on this or copy and paste it into your web browser to begin the domain name transfer.
  • Once this has been done our systems will request the transfer from your current provider using the EPP code that you have previously supplied us.

As long as the domain is unlocked with your current provider, the EPP Code is correct and the Domain Transfer Request is accepted it should take between 5 and 7 days for the domain to be transferred to ourselves and show as active in your client portal.
